Because we have accounts for everything these days, every six months or so I get a message from my fairly defunct Origin account mentioning something. Today I signed up for Origin Access, apparently. Which is weird, because:
a) it doesn’t look like there’s been any games added to my account
b) none of my personal credit card information was saved to my account, which I confirmed, and my sole credit card has no new charges
c) only my computers have access to this account, according to EA
Was I hacked? Unlikely, but password change done because internet safety is important, and who would spend money on my account? Did EA just give me a free trial? If so, why not just call it a trial?
In sum, I hate having a million accounts for everything and hope that either services start dying or they start consolidating logins.

My frustrating Origin thing is that I’ve been trying to sign up for 2-factor authentication, but that requires them to send an email, which I never receive. I don’t think the problem is on their end though, the email address I’m signed up with seems to have some really heavy-handed anti-spam stuff that is black- holing emails without any way for me to recover them.

Origin accounts in isolation seem to be quite easy to hack. I’ve known tons of people who have been compromised.

My friend had the same thing. Apparently EA is giving out a free month of Origin Access if you signed up for 2-factor authentication during a certain time period.

Interesting. I didn't, so I guess they might just be giving it out willy nilly?
